Why Do Industrial Robots Experience Controller Resets, Camera Dropouts or Safety Module Alarms?

When an industrial robot stops unexpectedly, loses camera communication or reports a safety-system alarm, engineers usually inspect the robot program, fieldbus network, servo drives and sensors first.

However, unstable auxiliary power is often the hidden cause.

Industrial robot systems commonly contain both 24V loads—such as safety controllers, I/O modules, relays and communication devices—and 12V loads such as industrial cameras, displays or embedded terminals. Voltage fluctuations and electrical noise generated during servo acceleration, braking and load changes can affect both rails, resulting in controller resets, communication failures, false alarms or unplanned robot shutdowns.
