What are some common types of power modules?

12 Jan, 2026 2:16pm

(I) AC-DC Power Module: Converts alternating current (AC) (such as 220V household power) to direct current (DC), suitable for various scenarios such as home appliances and chargers. In home appliances like televisions and refrigerators, the internal electronic components require DC power to operate. An AC-DC power module can convert the AC power in the household circuit into suitable DC power, providing the necessary power for the normal operation of these devices.

(II) DC-DC Power Module: Used to adjust DC voltage, such as converting 12VDC to 5VDC in automotive equipment. It has wide applications in various scenarios such as power, medical, industrial, charging piles, and instrumentation. In medical equipment, many precision instruments require specific DC voltages to ensure accurate operation. A DC-DC power module can convert the input DC voltage to a suitable value according to the equipment's needs.

(III) Linear Power Module: Utilizes the principle of resistive voltage division, adjusting the resistance value of a variable resistor to regulate the output voltage. The output voltage is relatively stable with minimal fluctuations, suitable for equipment requiring high voltage stability, such as medical equipment and communication equipment. In communication base stations, stable voltage is crucial for signal transmission and processing. Linear power supply modules provide stable voltage, ensuring the normal operation of communication equipment.

(IV) Switching Power Supply Modules Utilizing switching devices for voltage conversion, these modules control the input voltage to regulate the output voltage. They offer advantages such as high efficiency and small size, and are widely used in various electronic devices, such as computers, mobile phones, and home appliances. Computer power supplies typically employ switching power supply modules, which efficiently convert AC power into DC power required by different internal components. Their compact size facilitates installation within the computer chassis.

(V) Regulated Power Supply Modules Through feedback control, these modules monitor the output voltage in real time and adjust the input voltage to ensure output voltage stability. They are commonly used in equipment requiring high voltage stability, such as communication equipment and medical equipment. In some high-precision medical testing equipment, regulated power supply modules ensure stable voltage under various operating conditions, thereby guaranteeing the accuracy of test results.
