150W Dual Output Isolated DC-DC Converter for Machine Vision Systems

24 Jul, 2026 12:16pm

Why Do Machine Vision Systems Experience Camera Resets, Lost Images and Unstable Inspection Results?

When a machine vision system loses images or produces inconsistent inspection results, engineers usually check the camera, lens, exposure settings, communication protocol and vision software.

However, unstable auxiliary power is often the hidden cause.

A vision system may contain 12V industrial cameras and interface devices together with 5V image-processing boards, embedded controllers or FPGA circuits. If the shared 24VDC bus fluctuates during motor startup or load switching, both voltage rails can be affected, causing camera resets, dropped frames, controller reboots or incorrect inspection results.

Root Cause Analysis

Typical engineering challenges include:

* Voltage fluctuations on a shared 24VDC bus;
* Different voltage requirements within one vision system;
* EMI generated by motors, inverters and servo drives;
* Transient loads when cameras, lighting and controllers start;
* Limited cabinet space and restricted airflow;
* Continuous operation requiring reliable power conversion.

Adding separate power supplies does not necessarily solve these problems and can increase wiring, installation space and potential failure points.

 Engineering Requirements

Engineers need a power solution that can:

* Deliver regulated 5VDC and 12VDC outputs simultaneously;
* Operate from a fluctuating industrial 24V bus;
* Reduce wiring and the number of power modules;
* Provide galvanic isolation from noisy power circuits;
* Operate without fan maintenance;
* Protect downstream equipment during abnormal conditions.

How MINGZINC Solves the Problem?

The MDB150-24D05&12 accepts an 18–36VDC input and simultaneously provides 5VDC/10A and 12VDC/8.33A outputs.

The 5V rail can power image-processing boards, embedded controllers and FPGA circuits, while the 12V rail can support industrial cameras and compatible vision peripherals. One converter can therefore replace two separate power modules and simplify cabinet integration.

Input-to-output galvanic isolation helps prevent power-side noise and ground interference from reaching sensitive imaging electronics. Natural cooling eliminates fan-related maintenance, while undervoltage, overvoltage, overtemperature, overcurrent and short-circuit protection improve system safety.

 Why MINGZINC?

MINGZINC evaluates the complete application rather than recommending a converter from voltage ratings alone.

Our engineering capabilities include:

* Customized input, output and dual-output configurations;
* Load and power-distribution evaluation;
* Galvanic isolation design;
* Natural and forced-air cooling options;
* Customized interfaces, mounting and mechanical structures;
* OEM/ODM support and sample validation.

Customer Value

The MDB150-24D05&12 helps engineers:

* Power 5V and 12V subsystems from one converter;
* Reduce wiring, cabinet space and component count;
* Minimize camera resets and processing-board reboots;
* Improve continuous inspection reliability;
* Reduce fan maintenance and field service;
* Shorten machine design and commissioning time;
* Lower machine vision integration risk.
