Understand the working principle of ACDC module power supply

18 Dec, 2024 5:18pm

ACDC module power supply is a common power regulation module widely used in various electronic devices. Understanding the working principle of ACDC module power supply is crucial for electronic engineers and enthusiasts. This article will introduce the working principle of ACDC module power supply.

The ACDC module power supply is mainly used to convert AC power into DC power and provide stable output of voltage and current at the same time. Its working principle can be divided into the following steps:

Firstly, AC input. The ACDC module power supply receives AC input through external devices such as power sockets or transformers. Usually, the voltage and frequency of AC power are fixed, such as the commonly used 220V or 110V AC power in households.

Secondly, rectification. AC power is converted into large DC power after passing through a rectifier circuit. The rectifier circuit generally adopts a bridge rectifier circuit, which is composed of four diodes. Through a bridge rectifier circuit, the negative and positive half cycles of alternating current can be converted into direct current, thereby forming a rectified direct current.

Then, filter. The rectified DC electrical signal contains some pulsation and noise. To remove these spurious components, it is usually necessary to connect a filtering circuit. The filtering circuit is generally composed of capacitors, which can smooth the voltage. After filtering, the DC electrical signal becomes more stable.

Next, stabilize the voltage. In order to maintain the DC voltage at a set stable value, a voltage regulator circuit is needed to regulate the voltage. Voltage stabilization circuits generally use feedback regulation principles, monitoring changes in output voltage through sampling circuits, and adjusting the stability of output voltage by controlling the conduction time of switching elements (such as transistors or MOSFETs). When the output voltage deviates from the set value, the voltage regulator circuit will provide feedback to control the switching elements, thereby adjusting the output voltage.

**Output. After filtering and voltage stabilization, the DC signal can be used for power supply once it is stable. Direct current can provide reliable power support in devices that require power.

It should be noted that the working principle of ACDC module power supply is a relatively simplified description, which actually includes more details and auxiliary circuits, such as overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and EMI filtering. But the above steps cover the basic working principle of ACDC module power supply.

In summary, the ACDC module power supply receives AC input, undergoes rectification, filtering, and voltage stabilization processing, and finally obtains stable DC output power to supply electronic devices. Understanding the working principle of ACDC module power supply is very important for electronic engineers and enthusiasts, as it can help them better design and apply electronic devices.
